A little Time off

I will have a little time off this weekend. I'm going to Nebraska to visit my parents. At least it won't look like this:

By the way, the picture is not mine, it was sent to me by someone but represents wonderful winter weather in Nebraska.

This week is particularly hectic. On Monday, I started training as a Census Taker. The training class is taking more hours than the trainer has been estimating. During a class break, I happened to be called by a recruiter. I scheduled time to talk to him on Monday evening. He sent my resume and a cover letter to the HR Manager. This afternoon (Tuesday) he called me and said that the Manager would like to talk to me tomorrow.

After talking to our trainer for the census class, I feel REASONABLY confident that we will be finished with classroom around 2:00 tomorrow, but then have a 2 hour field assignment. I'm going to try to do 1.5 hours then go home for my 4:00 interview. At 5:00 tomorrow, I need to leave for my 6:00 Micro MBA class north of Round Rock. That will run to 8pm.

Today, after Census training I went straight to the board meeting of APICs an Operations Management Professional Organization. Those of you who know me as a software trainer might be asking why did you go to a Operations Management board meeting? It's the result of networking.

Thursday I need to check in for my flight on Friday, then have Census Training during the day, and need to finish packing in the evening. Friday we leave at 4:30 am for the airport. I'm thinking about taking my unemployment documentation with me so that I can update it while we wait for our flight.

I suspect Saturday and Sunday will be a whirlwind. Saturday I think my mom plans to take me to my aunt's elder care home in Schuyler about 30 miles from where my parents live. Sunday we will go to Church and my brothers and sisters will be coming to celebrate my mom's birthday. Monday Ana and I fly back to Austin. Does that sound like "time off"? Anyway that is what is round the corner for me this week.
